Allianz has confirmed it is the contractors-all-risks insurer for developer Green Acre Homes, the proprietors of the construction site burnt down in the blaze in Peckham, London, last week.
Allianz told Post it was unable to comment further due to an impending investigation by the Health and Safety Executive. The fire started on the construction site of a half-completed five-storey timber frame building, which has been completely destroyed. Adjacent blocks of flats and a public house have also been badly damaged, while 300 residents were evacuated. A total of 30 fire engines and more than 150 fire-fighters were called in to fight the blaze.
Loss adjuster Davies is handling a large claim in relation to the fire for the block of flats at Carisbrooke Gardens.
Rob Allum, office manager at Davies, who confirmed it is dealing with a major claim, told Post he did not expect that much will be salvageable from the flats, but that at the moment it could not ascertain this as it has not been allowed inside the building.
