Cumbrian based Egremont RUFC praise professional service given by Davies Response following extensive flooding to their Club House

In my capacity as Vice Chairman of Egremont Rugby Union Football Club Ltd I have led our clubs recovery following the devastating flood that hit West Cumbria on 20 November 2009. I was the first club member on the scene when the flood water receded to a safe level for us to re-enter our clubhouse. Our club was formed in 1878 and we are one of the oldest Rugby Union Football Clubs in the country. The November flood was a disaster and caused severe damage to our clubhouse. Looking through the clubhouse on that morning created a a strong mixture of emotions e.g. anger, frustration and helplessness. I have offered to set down my personal experiences of working with Response from that moment in time until our clubhouse was dried out.

Whilst watching the flood water ripping through our clubhouse I made several calls to our insurance agent, insurance company and then to our insurance company’s loss adjuster. This sequence of calls took almost a full day whilst I was passed from one person to another as the companies processed our request for help. By mid afternoon I was very frustrated and could not envisage when our club would receive help. I then received a call from Russ Wright from Response, who had been appointed by the loss adjuster to carry out the immediate mitigation work.  The service and support that I received from that moment onwards was superb.

Russ was calm, supportive and explained the overall process that the insurance company would probably follow and gave me specific details of what his company would do, when they would do it and how they would do it. This gave me great comfort knowing that we had  at last got  highly professional practical support. Response duly arrived at the agreed time and then gave me a comprehensive explanation of the following

• Work plan for this and the subsequent phases.
• Risk assessment (that we jointly agreed) of the hazards and how these would be either removed or mitigated.

Response then removed all of the water retaining fixtures and fittings and disinfected the whole clubhouse within a few hours. Within the next two days our club was full of fans, dehumidifiers and heaters and the drying out process had commenced.  Once again Russ Wright explained what he was doing and how he planned to achieve it e.g. how he had calculated the volume of our clubhouse and estimated the required capacity of the drying equipment.

Mr Wright continued to provide close liaison throughout the period of drying.  I received frequent reassuring calls during the drying out process.  This provided essential information so that I was able to keep our 200 club members fully informed throughout.

The service came to a close when Russ Wright gave me a comprehensive explanation and demonstration of the measurements that he was carrying out to determine whether the club was sufficiently dry. This testing was thorough and gave me absolute confidence.

To summarise this testimonial, I would say that Response provide a highly professional, prompt, reliable, safe and thorough service and communicated openly, calmly and supportively throughout their contract.  I have absolutely no doubt about recommending their services to anyone.

Yours sincerely,
